Air Source Heat Pumps
Air source heat pumps are like guardians of your home’s comfort, quietly working behind the scenes to keep you cozy all year round. Here’s what sets them apart:
They don’t just generate heat; they harness it from the air outside, even on chilly days, and bring it inside to warm your home. This means they’re incredibly efficient, providing reliable warmth while cutting down on energy costs.
And the best part? They’re compatible with most heating and hot water systems, making them a seamless addition to your home. Whether you’re building from scratch or retrofitting an existing system, air source heat pumps are a reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly choice for keeping your home cosy and comfortable.
How do they work?
Air source heat pumps operate by harnessing heat from the outdoor air and transferring it indoors to warm your home. Here’s how it works:
Heat Absorption: The heat pump absorbs heat from the outdoor air using a refrigerant.
Compression and Heat Exchange: The refrigerant is compressed, increasing its temperature. This hot refrigerant then passes through a heat exchanger where it transfers its heat to water in the heating system.
Distribution: The heated water is circulated through radiators or underfloor pipes, warming your home.
Return and Reheating: Once the water has released its heat, it returns to the heat pump, where the process repeats.
During warmer months, the system can also provide domestic hot water by diverting heat from the air to a separate water storage tank.
